My Background At 33 years of age I'm younger than most instructors. See below for my current achievements.
I.A.M.(Irish Advanced Motorists) Advanced Driving (May 2004. Visit the IAM site)
I did a week-long course with the Irish School of Motoring and received my Certificate in Instructor Training in February 2006.
I became an RSA-ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) in April 2008
In order to continue as a driving instructor to teach for reward from April 31st 2009 all instructors must pass all 3 stages and pay 250 euros to stay on the ADI list for two years in order to receive the ADI Certificate of Registration. The ADI examination consists of 3 stages:
Stage 1 : Theory test on all categories of vehicle
Stage 2 : 1 and-a-half hours advanced driving test including motorway driving
Stage 3 : Ability to instruct a skill to a learner driver and to analyse and explain faults in a driving test applicant.
On 18/08/08 I passed my ROSPA exam at Gold Standard. R.O.S.P.A (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is generally regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging test of its kind available to a member of the public. ROSPA Gold Standard awarded to any civilian is testimony to their driving ability and is the highest accolade that any member of the public can receive.
0n 30/04/10 I passed the DIAMOND SPECIAL TEST with no faults recorded. It is a higher scale and more difficult driving test than the ROSPA GOLD (see above) and lasts for 90 minutes. It includes a turnabout manoeuvre, reverse around the corner to the left and right, parallel park and moving off from a hill, emergency stop and reversing into a parking space. It also includes city, suburban, country and motorway driving and found it an excellent challenge. You must be a very experienced driver to pass it. See the “QUALIFICATIONS PAGE” to click on the latest certificate.
